READY TO FLY

When I was young I used to have dreams that I was standing at the edge of a cliff, overlooking the countryside far below. Feeling the urgency to jump, I believed my secret wings would magically appear to take me to wherever I wanted to go. Yet, I never took that risk, until one night in another dream, I was on ground facing eminent danger, when I told myself I could teach myself to fly in order to move out of the situation. In that moment, filled with confidence, knowing I was ready, I ran as fast as I could, flapping my arms until I rose effortlessly into the air. From that night on I knew I would be ready to rise to any occasion, whether a threat or opportunity that provoked insecurity or fear. Looking back, I realized it was my being ready to fly that allowed me to take the action necessary to fly; and even though in a dream, that experience served me well in many future awake moments where being ready allowed me to take flight to move out of, into, up to, backward or forward as necessary.
